He could not believe this was happening. Bad enough that you get called to a robbery at a bakery---cause, really that was just wrong---but now people were shooting at them? Seriously, what the hell? Not what I had in mind for today, he thought to himself as he fired a couple of shots in the direction of the robbers. He been in the neighborhood because it was his day off and he had figured on surprising Eva and Diego with some pastries when he went to pick them up and then he had noticed the police cars heading for the bakery and had offered his assistance even though he wasn't on duty. Sure it wasn't his beat or his unit, but he had figured a little help couldn't hurt. And they had agreed.
He then grunted as he felt something sink into his shooting arm. Crap, he the thought to himself as the gun clattered the floor. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed the gun in his other hand. He wasn't the best shot with his left hand, but it'd have to do. He had just managed to get a good grip on the gun in his left hand when the guys gave themselves up. Oh thank God. Not sure if the shots would've been straight, he thought to himself, placing the gun on the ground. Then, he placed a hand on his wound, trying to stop the flow. It was already starting to hurt like hell. Wonderful, he thought sarcastically. Just what he needed.

Sylvie hopped into the Ambo quickly when she heard that the call was for an officer involved in a shooting, responding to this type call had always bothered her but it bothered her more so now than it had before. Her first thought on a call like this was always of Antonio, but she shook that thought off as quickly as it had come on even though they had broken up she still had his schedule memorized and this was supposed to be his day off plus it was nowhere near his part of town.
As her partner pulled up to the bakery, Sylvie wasn’t really paying much attention to her surroundings until she spotted a familiar black truck. “Antonio?” She whispered to herself. Well if she hadn’t been paying attention before she certainly was now, she grabbed the jump bag and jogged towards the group of officers hoping to see Antonio standing there. When she didn’t see him and one of the officers pointed her in the direction of the bakery she turned to make sure that her rookie partner was following her, deciding not to wait for him she walked through the doors.
She surveyed the scene and noticed a familiar head of black hair seated at a table on the other side of the room. He hadn’t seen her yet, and she momentarily considered backing out and letting her partner handle this one until she noticed the blood stained bandage that was wrapped around Antonio’s arm. She rushed to his side. “Antonio!” She said as she set her jump bag down looking to get more bandages out…yeah police officers didn’t know much about applying a proper bandage. She moved his good hand out of the way and placed some more gauze on his arm and applied some pressure, knowing it would hurt she apologized softly “I’m sorry…I know this hurts but if I don’t put some pressure on it…it’s not going to stop bleeding.” Growing tired of waiting on her partner who she spots outside talking to the other officers she huffs, “Since my new partner is apparently useless, do you think you’re ok to walk to the ambulance? We need to get some of these clothes off,” she says blushing before explaining, “so I can take a proper look at your arm and bandage it correctly.” Noting the pained expression on his face she offered, “I’m going to start an IV anyway, I can give you something for pain if you want.”

Antonio looked around the bakery. He needed to stop the blood and his hand wasn't going to do that. Seeing some napkins that had fallen, he grabbed them and wrapped them around the wound as best as he could, using what he could find close by to tie the napkins to his wrist. It probably wasn't going to work too well, but hopefully it would hold until an ambulance could get there. Not that he knew for sure that one had been called and would be there soon, but he was hoping.
Almost as if he had summoned someone with his thought, he suddenly hurt Sylvie Brett's voice as she hurried towards him, applying a gauze to his arm, apologizing for hurting, saying that if she didn't put pressure on it, she wouldn't stop the bleeding. "It's okay," he assured. Yeah, using napkins hadn't been the best idea, but they had been the closest thing he could find without attracting the shooter's attention to himself.
At her question of whether or not he could make it to the ambulance, saying that they needed to get some of his clothes off, he nodded, smirking at her words even as she hastened to explain that she had meant so that she could get a proper look at his wound and bandage it properly. "Just couldn't wait, huh?" he teased. Then, "Sorry. That's probably the blood loss." When she offered to give him something for the pain if he wanted as she was going to have to start an i.v. for him, he shook his head. "Not yet. Gonna have to give a statement. After that, have at it," he replied. It was imperative for him to stay clear-headed enough so that his statement to I.A. was as concise as possible. And yes, he fully expected to have to talk to Internal Affairs. He had just been involved in a shooting after all...

When he smirked at her and teased her about not being able to wait to get his clothes off she couldn't help but blush even more, when he apologized for the comment blaming the blood loss her eyes flashed up to meet his. "Yeah, uh no problem. I don't think you've lost quite that much blood but we'll bandage it really well to make sure you don't lose any more, and I'll give you some fluids to replace what you have lost." When he agreed to the pain medication after he gave his statement to IA she knew he must really be hurting. "Will we need to wait here for you to give your statement or will they meet you at the hospital?"
Turning around to see her partner finally making his way into the building she glared at him and snapped, "Nice of you to finally join us. I need to get the patient back to the ambulance so that I can treat him... and you stand out there chit chatting, did you forget that we have a job to do?" Realizing that she was overly emotional and now wasn't the right time to correct her partner Sylvie instantly regretted snapping at the rookie and mumbled "Sorry" under her breath before she sighed, "Antonio and I are going to walk to the ambulance so can you make sure the truck is ready for us when we get there?... Please." Picking up her jump bag she turned back to Antonio, "Don't stand up too quickly or I'll be picking you up out of the floor, and then I'm going to walk right next to you... that way if you start to fall I can at least try to catch you."

Antonio smiled at Sylvie as she accepted his apology, adding that she hadn't thought that he had lost a whole lot of blood but that they'd bandage him up quickly to make sure that he didn't lose anymore and she'd give him fluids to replace what he had lost. "Sounds good," he said. He was in so much pain. Getting shocked sucked. And this was the second time it had happened in the last two years. No, wait. Or was it the third? The third. It was definitely been the third time. First had been at CFD headquarters, then one in front of Voight. And now this. Wonderful. What, did he have some sort of invisible sign on his person saying "Come shoot me" that only criminals could see? Okay, the blood loss was really getting to him.
At her question of whether they'd have to wait at the location or go to the precinct to talk to IA, he grimaced. "Rather talk to them at the hospital," he admitted. Did he want to go to the hospital? Not particularly, but he wasn't stupid. He was losing blood. He needed a hospital. If Internal Affairs wanted to be a jackass about it, someone could talk to his rep.
When her partner came in and she started yelling at the guy for his late entrance, the officer grimaced. Yikes. Wouldn't want to be on her bad side, he thought to himself. She wasn't too happy with the guy, not that he could blame her. Okay, focus. As he started to get up, he slowly nodded as she cautioned him to go slowly, saying that if he wasn't, she'd be picking him up off the floor and that she'd walk right next to him so that she could catch him. "Sounds good. Let's do it," he agreed.

Hearing his voice, she could tell that he was in a lot of pain. The fact alone that he’d so readily agreed to pain medicine proved that point. “Wait… What? Did Antonio Dawson just agree to let me give him pain medication?” She had to focus really hard to force herself to remain professional, when all she really wanted to do was hug the man in front of her and tell him that he couldn’t ever do something like this again, because she loved him too much to lose him. She loved him? Where had that thought come from? She couldn’t love him… they (well he) had ended things between them. She was silent for a moment as she collected her thoughts.
“So this makes what three?” Looking at him she asked sadly. “You know you can’t keep getting shot right? One of these times the bad guy isn’t going to miss, and I...” She shook her head as if to remove those, “Well it doesn’t matter about me, but your kids need you.” Sylvie hoped that she’d covered up that little slip well enough that Antonio wouldn’t notice.
Seeing him grimace, “Look… I get that you’re waiting to give a statement, but you’re obviously in pain… and I don’t want to hurt you any more when I bandage this wound. I’d prefer to give you some morphine before I have to put a bunch of pressure on it, but ultimately it’s up to you.” She knew he didn’t want to go to the hospital, but she sure as heck wasn’t going to give him a choice. He could charge her with kidnapping a police officer for all she cared… He was going whether he wanted to or not.
When he agreed to her catching him if he fell she laughed, “Antonio Dawson… you better not fall on top of me, I’d never be able to get us both up. If you need the stretcher I can get him to bring it in. So please don’t be stubborn, if you need the help ask for it.” She shook her head and watched him closely as he stood. She couldn’t help but notice how good looking and fit he was, and it made her miss him even more. Hoping that he hadn’t caught her ogling him she cleared her throat, “Urm… You doing ok over there?”

Antonio couldn't help the laugh that escaped as Sylvie asked if he had just agreed to let her give him pain meds. "I did," he confirmed. But at the hospital, after I give my statement. I want to be clearheaded for that so that it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass if it goes to trial," he replied. And this probably would go to trial, given his luck. So yeah, making sure he was able to account for his statement was paramount.
When she asked him if it was the third time he had gotten shot, he nodded, listening as she reminded him that he probably shouldn't get shot again, starting to say something about herself before reminding him that Eva and Diego needed him. "Not like I'm actually trying to get shot," he reminded. "And I know they need me. Not actually putting myself in harm's way for the hell of it," he assured her. Don't need a lecture, he thought to himself.
He then fell silent again and listened she said that she understood that he was waiting to give a statement but that he was obviously in pain and that she didn't want to hurt him anymore as she bandaged his wound, saying that although it was up to him, she'd prefer to give him some morphine before she had to put more pressure on the wound. She has a point, he thought to himself. He shouldn't be enduring this. He needed the morphine. But at the same time, he needed to be clear-headed. "Compromise. Half a dose, enough to take the edge off, but not enough to make me loopy," he proposed. He had no idea if she'd go for it, but hopefully, she would.
At her comment that she'd never be able to pull them both up if he fell on her, adding that she could get the stretcher if he needed it, asking him not to be stubborn and to ask for help if he needed it. "I will, promise, but I'm good," he assured and then nodded when she asked if he was doing okay. "Yeah, I'm okay," he answered. "Just want to get the statement over with so I can get to a hospital."

She caught on to his aggravated tone and figured she at least owed him some kind of explanation, and an apology. After all, what Antonio Dawson decided to do was hardly her business anymore. “I’m sorry, not meaning to lecture you and I know you don’t do it on purpose… but today has been like a nightmare come true for me, except thank goodness you’re ok. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had dreams like this, but anyway back to the important stuff… are you injured anywhere else?” She made a quick attempt at changing the subject hoping that Antonio had missed some of what she’d just rambled on about.
When he offered a compromise she nodded, “Half dose it is, but as soon as you give your statement you’re getting the rest of it. Ok?” She half asked, half told him. “Besides I can’t truly imagine what a loopy Antonio would look like, I might have to stick around to see. Unless you kick me out that is.” ‘please don’t kick me out’ she thought to herself.
“Well it’s a good thing we’re going to the hospital first thing then.” She said smiling, “If IA wants to talk to you that bad they know where Chicago Med is.” Just as they climbed up into the truck she saw some men in suits approaching the ambulance. Sylvie shut all the doors and went to work on getting Antonio’s jacket and shirt off and establishing an IV in his uninjured arm. When the back door to her ambulance started to open and a man started to climb in, he barely got Antonio’s first name out before Sylvie was shooing him back out the door he had come in.
“My patient has been shot, right now my priority is taking care of him… you can talk to him after we get him to the hospital, I refuse to delay his care and treatment for some type of interview that can be done just as easily a few miles down the road.” She almost laughed at the man’s confused expression as she shut the door in his face.
Returning to Antonio she cracked open the drug box and administered half a dose of morphine as they had agreed upon, and handed him the syringe with the second half in it. “Can you hold this for me so it doesn’t get lost or mixed up with the others while I clean up this arm and bandage it again?”

As Sylvie apologized, saying she didn't mean to lecture him and that she knew he didn't go out of his way to get shot, adding that it was like a nightmare come true, saying that she was relieved that he way okay, adding that she had nightmares of him getting shot before asking if he had been injured anywhere else, he reached out to her, going to to touch her wrist. "No I'm sorry. You bring up some valid points," he told her. And the fact that she was worried about Eva and Diego when she was still getting to know them touched him.
To his relief, she agreed to him only having a half a dose, nodding as she said that she'd give the rest of it as soon as he gave his statement, adding that she couldn't imagine what he was like loopy and that she would have to wait around and see, unless he kicked her out. "As far as I know, I don't get loopy. And no, I wouldn't kick you out," he responded. Why would she think that? he wondered.
He then fell silent as the medic went to work, smiling as she stated that it was a good thing that they were going to the hospital first and that if I.A. wanted to talk to him, they knew where Med was. "Yeah," he agreed. Hearing the door open, he frowned as he saw a guy trying to get in. "Fuera de aquí!" he shouted irritably as Sylvie shooed him away saying that Antonio had been shot and that her priority was taking care of him, that she refused to delay the care, and that they could talk to him as soon as he was at the hospital, which was just a few miles down the road. "Thanks. Most of the officers in I.A. are just trying to do their jobs, but I didn't like the looks of that guy," he admitted. Seriously, who the hell tried to conduct an interview in a damn ambo?
He then winced slightly as she administered the morphine. He was not good with needles. Oh he wasn't afraid of them and he wouldn't faint or something stupid at the feel of them. He just didn't like them poking into his skin. It was not normal, thank you very much. That being said, he wouldn't ever skip a flu shot or something idiotic like that.
When she asked him to hold the syringe containing the other half of the morphine dose while she cleaned and bandaged his arm again, saying that she didn't want it getting lost or mixed up with the other vials, he nodded and took the item, being careful not to prick himself. The last thing he needed was to get the full dose and be too out of it to conduct the interview. OOC Fuera de aqui is Spanish for get out. Well, according to Google. If it's wrong, let me know, and I'll amend it.

When Antonio said he wouldn’t kick her out she smiled, “Good to know.” She was second guessing a lot of things at this point, I mean they had agreed to take some time to get themselves straight before they continued pursuing their relationship. She hadn’t needed the time, she’d known all along what she’d wanted but figured if he needed time then she at least owed him that. It had been incredibly hard to stay away. The first few weeks had been torture, and it really hadn’t gotten much better but she was too stubborn to be the one to call him first.
She was shaken out of her thoughts when the guy from IA had tried to bust up into her ambo, and hearing Antonio shout at the man only irritated her more. Hearing the officer ask her partner for her name so he knew who to complain about she smiled, Gaby would be proud, “Make sure to tell him that there are two T’s in Brett.” Wouldn’t be her first complaint and probably wouldn’t be the last, this kind of complaint didn’t bother her because she knew she had the patient’s best interest in mind. When Antonio stated that he didn’t like the looks of the guy, she laughed “I don’t care what he looks like the back of my ambo is not the place to conduct an interview… especially when I’m trying to bandage your wound and take care of you. I just hope this doesn’t come back on you, and if it does I apologize.”
Sylvie actually winced with him when she inserted the IV and gave the morphine. She looked up at him, “I’m sorry, but you should start to feel better soon.” She set about cleaning his arm and bandaging it before cleaning up some of the mess in the truck. She retrieved the vial of morphine from Antonio, “I’ll take that back for now. How are you feeling?”
Sitting next to him on the ride to the hospital she let her mind wander again, all she wanted to do was hold his hand. She hesitated for a moment before she reached for his hand. "You are not allowed to scare me like this ever again." She said with a shaky voice. Sylvie had done a remarkable job of keeping her feelings out of things while she was actually taking care of him as a patient, but since everything was now done and it gave her nothing but time to think she was finding it increasingly hard to keep it together.

Antonio smiled as Sylvie assured him that it was good to know that he wouldn't kick her out. She really is amazing, he thought to himself. How had he gotten so lucky? It didn't make sense. He didn't deserve her and he knew it. And yet...here they were and she was here. Okay, maybe that was the blood loss talking. Yeah, that sounded plausible.
His smile then turned into a smirk as she told the guy from Internal Affairs to remember that there were two t's in her last name, laughing when she told him that she didn't care what the guy looked like and that the back of her ambo wasn't the place for conducting an interview especially when she was trying to patch him up, saying that she hoped that it didn't come back to bite him in the ass and if it did, she was sorry. "Your ambo, huh?" he teased gently. Damn she's hot when she's territorial, he thought to himself. No. Bad. he couldn't let his thoughts go there. "And as for it coming back on me, it probably won't. Voight's not fond of IA either," he assured. And it was still weird working with Voight. After all, he had arrested the guy.
He then winced a bit as she gave him the morphine, looking at her as she apologized, assuring him that he'd feel better soon, taking the other vial, asking him how he was feeling. "Better. Not in so much pain," he assured. Morphine had always worked pretty fast on him, becoming almost instantaneous. So yeah, he was feeling pretty good now.
When she took his hand, telling him that he wasn't allowed to scare her like that again, he went to pull her close, hoping that she'd allow it even though it wasn't exactly professional. "I'm okay," he assured. "And I'm sorry I scared you. Didn't mean to," he apologized.
